Lasting Impact. Powered by Generosity. Rooted in the Valley.

Generosity Fuels Impact Across the Valley

Since 1995, the St. Croix Valley Foundation has partnered with donors to facilitate more than $100 million in grants and scholarships—supporting people, projects, and possibilities across the St. Croix Valley and beyond.

We make it easy for donors to give in ways that have meaningful and lasting impact—through regional grantmaking, community-led grants from our local affiliates, donor-advised funds guided by individuals and families, and endowed funds that provide reliable, annual support to nonprofits.

In 2024 alone, more than 1,000 grants and scholarships totaling $5.8 million were made possible by people who believe in this incredible place—and want to invest in its future.

This is impact...For the Valley. For good.

How We Drive Impact

  • We support bold ideas and trusted nonprofits through regional and local competitive grant programs shaped by community insight and led in partnership with our affiliate boards.

  • We support donor-advised grants directed by individuals, families, and civic groups who care deeply about making a difference in the Valley.

  • We help nonprofits build endowments and secure legacy gifts that provide sustainable, annual support for their mission-driven work.

Our impact is not ours alone. It belongs to the donors, volunteers, nonprofits, businesses, and neighbors whose generosity shapes life in the Valley every day.

We are a connector—linking generosity to action, values to vision, and people to the causes that matter most. The result? Needs met. Lives touched. Our local communities strengthened.

It’s a legacy of generosity that grows—now and for generations to come.

Impact Spotlight: Little Moments Count in the Valley

The First Thousand Days grant program—established by legacy donors Bill and Rita Lawson—is making a lasting impact on early childhood development across the St. Croix Valley.

In 2024, a First Thousand Days grant brought Little Moments Count to the region—making the St. Croix Valley the first in Wisconsin to host this early childhood initiative focused on simple, science-backed actions like talking, reading, singing, and playing with young children.
A second series of grants in 2025 is helping vastly expand the program’s reach and deepen its impact.

Our impact is powered by generosity—and made real by the people and nonprofits who bring it to life. Here are some of the ways that we help that impact grow across the St. Croix Valley and beyond:

REGIONAL GRANTMAKING

Our competitive grant programs focus on five key areas: early childhood, mental health, arts, the environment, and music education—investing in cross-county solutions that strengthen the Valley.

NONPROFIT PARTNERS

Nonprofits are at the heart of our impact. We work alongside them to grow endowments, encourage legacy gifts, and ensure lasting support for their work.
