Every community member has a role to play in supporting children and families in the first thousand days to encourage healthy development that leads to strong outcomes. We'll learn from experts in brain development, economics, and early childhood education. This hybrid (in-person or Zoom) session will feature panelists, facilitated conversations, and resources from community partners focused on children and families. Presented in partnership with Little Moments Count. This hybrid event will happen in person at Camp St. Croix RCU Discovery Center in Hudson, WI and it will be livestreamed on Zoom. For those attending in person, child care and a light breakfast will be provided.  Address: 345 Riverview Dr, Hudson, WI 54016

Session 2: Early Brain Development in a Rapidly Changing world

Registration for this event has closed. Stay tuned for a video of the webinar, which we will share below as soon as it is available.

Event Description: COVID, technology, and equitable access to resources are changing parenting and early brain development for children in the first thousand days of life – a crucial stage of brain building that shapes a child’s future. In this Zoom session, learn about what’s new and different in the parenting landscape and how nonprofits in our region are responding to support babies, parents, and families. Presented in partnership with Little Moments Count, Stillwater Early Childhood Family Education, and the Family Resource Centers of St. Croix Valley and Burnett County. This session will be offered via Zoom only. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. If you have any specific accessibility needs, please feel welcome to contact us at info@scvfoundation.org.

What is conversations of the valley?

Conversations of the Valley (COV) is a community-wide speaker series that's been informing and inspiring since 2004. COV brings community members together to address issues relevant to the St. Croix Valley region, ask questions and gain insights that often lead to meaningful action.

Why invest in the first thousand days?

Children need love and attention to thrive, be happy and healthy, and do well in school. Research indicates that the return on investment from early childhood development is extraordinary, resulting in better working public schools, more educated workers, and less crime (Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis). That's why St. Croix Valley Foundation is investing big in the first thousand days (roughly three years) of children's lives. Join us for Conversations of the Valley as we learn about this important topic together.
