Donate to The Sharing Tree Fund

The Sharing Tree is a program that provides school supplies to elementary, middle and high school students in need for the school district of Hudson, Wisconsin. The program began in 2002, and in 2009 came under the sponsorship of the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation. Since its inception in 2002, The Sharing Tree has provided much-needed school supplies to over 250 students, growing each year and serving more than 60 students in 2008.

The Process

During June and July each year, families/students register for the program by age, grade, school and gender, and list the needed supplies. Registration materials are available at each of the ten schools in the Hudson district, as well as the Christian Cupboard Food Shelf and St. Croix Department of Children and Families in New Richmond locations.

The supplies typically are obtained in one of two ways: Student Sponsorship, where Sharing Tree supporters pick a shopping tag with the student’s needs (student identities are not revealed) and purchase the supplies for that student and donate the completed backpack to The Sharing Tree; or The Sharing Tree uses donations (school supplies or money) to meet the remainder of the students’ needs. The Sharing Tree distributes the backpacks to the families/students on an evening in mid-August.
